Blogging from Dublin

So we arrived in our hotel yesterday and the hotel it self is cosy, but the area it is in, feels like a pace you wouldn't want to walk around in alone at night.

We're starting our week of cultural experiences, and that feels, well, fine I suppose. Today we visited a wax museum which was scary...

I'm thinking about what I'd like to bring back to Sweden from the Irish schools but I'm sad to say that other than the discipline I haven't found a lot that is different from Sweden.

I'm kind of homesick, wish the AVT was over.

See you! //Maria

Thursday october 8th

Today we had an assembly, they sang Christian songs and the pupils got told off by the principal. The religious part of the assembly was hard for me to like. Tho there are mostly Christians in this school, and this country, there are still some pupils who have a different, or no religion, and they should not me made to sing songs about something they don't believe in.

Next week the school is having an inspection, this means that the school will get examined. The teachers are very nervous and the planning to make things nice for the inspectors seem to come before the children's education. It is important that the children behave and everything runs smoothly when the inspectors are here so that they will get a good grade. If they don't get a good grade parents might take the children away from the school. I wonder if the inspectors realizes that children are children no matter what day, and that teachers are humans and they can have bad days as well. I am glad that we don't have inspections in Sweden.

Bye!

My first post from Northern Ireland

Welcome back too my blog!

We've been in Northern Ireland for three days now. We live in a small town about 40 minutes outside of Belfast. The apartment we're renting is rather small, and the bed is beyond hard, but other than that I love it here. Yesterday we had a couple of drinks with the son of a teacher and his friends, my first time drinking Guinnes and it tasted like cold coffee so it was nice.

The school Michelle and I are in is large enough. The children are cute and friendly, they hold up the door and wait for you. Everyone is very friendly.

School is staring now so i have to go.
